Story Walk

Enjoy our Story Walk, located at Goshen Park. The current story is Dog Loves Drawing by Louise Yates, sponsored by the Evans-Wilson Family, in honor of Johnny Appleseed's 250th birthday (September 26, 2024), and in collaboration with the Johnny Appleseed Educational Center and Museum in Urbana.

Thank you to the Leadership Champaign County group for mulching around the Story Walk posts in April 2024: Zac Fiely, Martin Leistner, Amber Pryer, and Nick Redavide.

What is a Story Walk?
The Mechanicsburg Public Library StoryWalk® is a delightful, innovative way for children — and adults — to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. The StoryWalk® Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. Storywalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.

How was the Story Walk funded?
Mechanicsburg Public Library is grateful for the support of United Way of Clark, Champaign, and Madison Counties in providing initial funding for this project. The StoryWalk® was also funded by the American Rescue Plan: Humanities Grants for Libraries, which is an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) through the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021.
